ಮಂಗಳೂರು: ಕೇರಳ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಂದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಆಫ್ರಿಕನ್ ಹಂದಿ ಜ್ವರ ರೋಗದ ಸೋಂಕು ದೃಢಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು, ಕೇರಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಂದಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ರೋಗವು ಹರಡದಂತೆ ಅವಶ್ಯ ಮುನ್ನೆಚ್ಛರಿಕೆ ಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಪಶುಪಾಲನಾ ಮತ್ತು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸೇವಾ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಉಪನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರು ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಆಫ್ರಿಕನ್ ಹಂದಿ ಜ್ವರವು ಸಾಕು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಡು ಹಂದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವೈರಾಣುನಿಂದ ಬರುವ ಸಾಂಕ್ರಮಿಕ ರೋಗ ಆಗಿದ್ದು, ಸಾವಿನ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವು ಶೇ 100 ರವರೆಗೂ ತಲುಪಬಹುದು. ಈ ರೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಲಸಿಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೇ ಇರುವುದರಿಂದ ನಿಯಮಾನುಸಾರ ರೋಗ ದೃಢೀಕರಣಗೊಂಡ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ 1 ಕಿಲೋ ಮೀಟರ್ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹಂದಿಗಳನ್ನು ವಧೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಶೇ 100 ರಷ್ಟು ಸಾವಿನ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಇರುವುದರಿಂದ ಹಂದಿ ಸಾಕಾಣಿಕೆದಾರರಿಗೆ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ನಷ್ಟ ಉಂಟಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ವೈರಸ್ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ರೋಗ ಉಂಟು ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಈ ರೋಗವು ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹಬ್ಬದಂತೆ ತಡೆಗಟ್ಟಲು ಕೇರಳ ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸುವ ಗಡಿ ಭಾಗದ ಚೆಕ್ಪೋಸ್ಟ್ ಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರೆದು ಹಂದಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಹಂದಿ ಮಾಂಸಗಳ ಸಾಗಾಣಿಕೆ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಗಾ ವಹಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಎಲ್ಲ ಹಂದಿ ಸಾಕಾಣಿಕೆದಾರರಿಗೆ ರೋಗ ಬಾರದ ಹಾಗೇ ಮುಂಜಾಗ್ರತೆ ಕ್ರಮ ವಹಿಸಲು ಸೂಚಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಪಶುಪಾಲನಾ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಪಶುವೈದ್ಯಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಹಂದಿ ಫಾರಂಗಳಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ ಹಂದಿ ಸಾಕಾಣಿಕೆದಾರರಿಗೆ ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸಲಹೆ ನೀಡುವಂತೆ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಆಫ್ರಿಕನ್ ಹಂದಿ ಜ್ವರವು ಈ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡು ಬಂದಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಹಂದಿ ಸಾಕಾಣಿಕೆದಾರರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ಭಯಭೀತರಾಗುವ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
The Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry and Medical Services Department said in a release that African swine fever infection has been confirmed in pigs in the state of Kerala and necessary precautionary measures have been taken to prevent the spread of the disease in the Dakshina Kannada district adjoining Kerala.
African swine fever is a highly contagious viral disease in domestic and wild pigs with a mortality rate of up to 100%. As there is no specific treatment or vaccine for this disease, according to the rules, pigs within 1 km radius of the confirmed disease area have to be slaughtered. 100% death rate causes financial loss to pig farmers. He said that this virus does not cause any disease in humans.
To prevent this disease from spreading to the state, checkposts on the border connecting to Kerala state have been opened and the transportation of pork and pork meat has been monitored. All the pig farmers of the district have been advised to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease. He said that veterinary officers of animal husbandry department have been directed to visit all the pig farms under their jurisdiction and advise the pig farmers in this regard.
